The Tanjore Paintings (Thanjavur Paintings) that we offer are the mark of the rich South Indian heritage. These traditional art pieces that one could see only in palaces can now be owned by everyone. Semi precious gems are embellished on these paintings. The relief work in these paintings is done with pure gold.

Artists prepare a rough sketch of the image to make it clear where the gems need to be placed and the relief work needs to be carried out. We have certain standard sketches for our customers to get a glance of our work and place customized orders for the same. The mixture of natural Arabic gum which is taken from the roots of the trees and French chalk powder is used. Our artists do the relief work meticulously as it determines the overall look of the painting. If the client wants the relief work to look more embossed, the relief work is again carried out. The gems are pasted in the wet mixture so as these get embedded easily.

With the gold leaves or gold foils the relief work is carefully covered. Gold foils, when pasted take the shape of the relief work. Pasting the gold foil is done carefully to ensure excellent finishing. Our artists ensure that not much pressure is exerted on the relief work during pasting. It is after this that the coloring of the painting takes place.

The background in these paintings are generally dark blue, red or green. These bright colors make the painting stand out, especially the gold work. With the proper use of gems, gold foils and detailed art the paintings look rich and magnificent.
