Careful sampling and specimen preparation is important for accurate determination of properties and soil behaviour by performing various tests. The augers help in obtaining disturbed or undisturbed samples at reasonable depths subject to ground conditions. The shallow borings find much use in investigations of foundations, highway, runways and agricultural soil testings.
