The relay consists of separately detecting the voltage across each of the fuses. Under normal conditions, the potential across the fuses is close to zero. By opening the fuse, the potential increases from one fuse to another. This potential drives the current through the LED of the optocoupler. The optocoupler is on because of the current in the optocoupler provides the path of the circuit for the external LED indication and also for the electromagnetic relay. The detection circuit comprising the optocoupler and the associated driving circuit is separated for each phase. However, the electromagnetic relay providing potential-free contacts for alarm and control is common for all 3 phases.
