The safety fuse consists of a train of black powder, enclosed by several strands wound jute, covered with one or more layers of jute, bitumen, and coloring composition. It is also covered with polypropylene film in the case of blue label. Whereas green label bears polyethylene coating. The fuse is capable of burning continuously at a uniform rate along its entire length. The black powder used for making the safety fuse is a mixture of potassium nitrate, sulfur, and charcoal.
