Periodontics encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the supporting and surrounding tissues of the teeth. Students are trained in case analysis, treatment planning, maintenance, supportive and surgical periodontal therapy. Knowledge on techniques of muco-gingival surgeries, resective and reconstructive osseous surgeries and implantology is imparted to the students.
Dr. Vipin Agarwal received his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from the prestigious Faculty of Dental Sciences, King's George Medical College, Lucknow in 1993. He completed his Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) in Periodontics in 1996 from the same college. He has been executive member of Indian Society of Periodontology. He is a teacher and guide for under graduate and post-graduate students. He has many publications to his credit. He has been external examiner for under graduate and postgraduate examinations for various universities across India. He has chaired scientific sessions at many national conferences.
After the formation of the state of Uttaranchal, it was realized that the new state with a population of nearly 1 crore, did not have adequate facilities for both the dental and the medical education.
