KVK Nitrous Oxide Plant or laughing gas plant is manufactured under the strict supervision of experienced engineers, which is not only safe to use, but also economical, as it consumes less power and equipment. The manufactured gas conforms to the Indian Pharmacopoeia and is stored in a liquid nitrous oxide plant, which can be directly loaded into cylinders.
Process Description:
Nitrous oxide is produced by heating the ammonium nitrate to a temperature of approx. 250 deg.c. The ammonium nitrate is decomposed in the process to give a mixture of nitrous oxide and superheated steam. Impurities include fumes of ammonium nitrate, nitrogen and other nitrogen oxides. Steam and impurities are removed by washing with water, caustic soda and sulfuric acid. The nitrogen present in the traces is removed by bleeding from the top of the storage containers, where the nitrous oxide in the liquid state is stored after compression.
Properties of Nitrous Oxide:
Nitrous oxide is a compound of nitrogen and oxygen. Its chemical name is N2O.It is a colorless, non-flammable, non-toxic gas with a slightly sweet taste and an odor. A well known method of nitrous oxide distribution is the compressed liquid in approved design cylinders. It retains combustion, so organic oils and petrochemical fats be kept away from nitrous oxide gas.
Uses of nitrous oxide gas:
Nitrous oxide gas is majorly used for anesthetic purposes. It is also used as carrier gas, propellant for aerosols and food.
