MELRES – W, a liquid Melamine Formaldehyde Resin improves the wet strength of paper as well as retains the desired absorbency when added in optimum proportions. It is suitable for most of the grades of paper pulp used in paper/tissue and board manufacturing. In addition, it imparts resistance to wet rub, the wet tear and the folding endurance when wet. The dry strength is also improved to some extent. Melamine Formaldehyde is resistant to hydrolysis and therefore is preferred if the paper is required to retain its wet strength for long periods, particularly under excessive humid conditions. It has no affinity for cellulose in the form supplied and required conversion to a cationic acid colloid solution before use.
