The oil is extracted using steam distillation from the plant Mentha arvensis that has its origins in India. The perennial herb grows up to 3 feet in height and is used for extracting oil that is colorless to pale yellow liquid which may solidify at room temperatures. It has use in flavoring as well as in aromatherapy applications where it is used to provide relief to sore muscles or used in combination with products like pain relief balm.
