The Force vs. Displacement System is used for finding assembly defects in fully assembled circuit breaker interrupters. The moving contact of the circuit breaker interrupter is set in motion by the system, with respect to the fixed contact and the reactive force exerted by the fixed contact on the moving contact is measured. A graph of Force vs. Displacement characteristic is plotted by the system. The signature characteristics of every circuit breaker design type are available in the system database and the system software benchmarks the acquired characteristic against those in the database. The defects in mechanical assembly show up as deviations from the typical force values. This helps the user to identify defects in specific zones of assembly as well as alignment errors.
