The electric brake motor provides the means to slow down or stop the driven equipment efficiently and safely in a very short period of time. These are spring-loaded units which are electrically released and which provide intrinsically safe operating characteristics such that in the event of interruption or failure of the supply the brake is engaged and stops the load.
