The A.C. & D.C. Type Drum Controllers manufactured by us are primarily designed for effectively motion control purposes in all types of cranes. These can also be used to control the slip-ring motors in other typesof machinery. This product complies with B. S. S. : 587 1957, for motor starters rind controllers.
This product consists of the following parts:
Housing
The controller is cased in an enclosure made of steel sheets, which is cut on the top & bottom, in order to make windows that are covered with cast iron plates. The front cover of the housing can be removed without any difficulty, and provides optimum space required for the proper maintenance of the controller.
Controller Drum
The drum is a componnet having considerable diameter, which provides greater wearing surface & increases the arcing distance between segments & tips. Drum contacts are fabricated using heavy gauge, hard drawn copper, and are attached to cast iron drums, using counter sunk head screws. The ratchet wheel ensures the exact positioning of these contcats at each step, and are placed upon spring loaded pawl lever, which can be adjeusted easliy, and are equipped with rollers. A square bekelite tube is provided with square drum shafts, and are used to insulate drum castings.
Contact Fingers
Primary Contatc Finger Dies are of hinged pattern, and are firmly clamped to a bakelite insulated, square steel bar. A renewable hard-drawn, half-round copper tip is fixed on each contact finger, which undertake the moving action of rotary drum, as a result of the pressure applied by helical spring. The current is transmitted from the conatct fingers to terminal bases by laminated copper shunts.
Arc Shields
This equipment is supplied with substantial arc shields on all main points, and the complete arc shield assembly can easily be removed for inspection purposes. These can also be replaced with ease in case the assembly is impaired or damaged in any way.
