During the fabrication process of molds, dies and tools it is often necessary to manually retouch the machined model. Here one tries to optimize or correct problems not planned for during design or derived from fabrication itself. When this occurs, it is helpful to preserve the geometry of the mold or die in a digital format to be able to regenerate it when it deteriorates from use.
