It includes a hollow cylinder whose inner diameter is same as shaft and is fitted by a Gib head key over the ends of two shafts. The power is transferred from one shaft to other by a key and a sleeve. All elements must be strong enough to impart the torque. It is made from cast iron into two halves and bolted by high tensile mild steel nuts and bolts.
