Counter Weight Type Limit Switches are used to avoid over-hoisting, and remain 'on' as a result of the weight connected to the lever. The lever is released if the snatch block reaches the highest position, and the weight pulling the lever down is moved up on the snatch block. As the lever is released, the two contacts are cut-off, and two phases of the motor are stopped. This machanism ends when the hoisting motion is halted. The switch is reset automatically upon the lowering of the switch block.
