Additional Details
Our Borage oil is extracted from the seeds of the borage (Borago officinalis) plant. This large plant with blue, star-shaped flowers is found throughout Europe and North Africa. It is naturalized to North America. Our Borage oil is refined herbal oil, which contains no pyrrolizidine alkaloids. Borage seed oil has numerous health benefits due to its high content of gamma linolenic acid (GLA). Research has proven GLA to be useful in rheumatoid arthritis, eczema, diabetic neuropathy, cardiovascular health, and PMS. Borage oil is the natural supplement which has anti-inflammatory properties. Borage oil’s gamma linolenic acid (GLA), a fatty acid which human body converts to a hormone-like substance called prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). PGE1 has anti-inflammatory properties and may also act as a blood thinner and blood vessel dilator. Linoleic acid, a common fatty acid found in nuts and seeds and most vegetable oils (including borage oil), should theoretically convert to PGE1.There are many things that can interfere with this conversion. These includes disease; the aging process; saturated fat; hydrogenated oils; blood sugar problems; and inadequate vitamin C, magnesium, zinc, and B vitamins. Nutritional Supplements that provide GLA circumvent these conversion problems, leading to more predictable formation of PGE1. Our manufactured borage seed oil is the richest source of GLA. Our Borage Oil contains no less than 20% GLA. It is manufactured in latest plant in hygienic conditions. The manufacturing process follows CGMP guidelines. Therefore our manufactured borage oil is pure, hygienic and provides full therapeutic benefits. Some trials with Borage Oil have reported that 1.1 – 2.8 gm per day dose of Borage Oil for minimum of three months gives significant relief from symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Borage oil also help in the treatment of atopic dermatitis – eczema. It reduces skin inflammation, dryness, scaling, and itching, without side effects. In a study, a group of children with infantile seborrheic-dermatitis were treated with borage oil (0.5 ml) applied to the diaper region twice daily. Within 10 to 12 days, all of the children were free from skin lesions, even in the areas not treated with borage oil. Use of the oil topically two to three times a week kept the seborrhea in remission until the patients were six to seven months old. There were no relapses after the oil was discontinued.
