Electrical Winding, be it an Stator, field coil needs to be tested for various parameters prior to declaring it fit for use Surge test, High voltage test (HV), Insulation Resistance Test (IR) are the essential tests carried out on winding to detect faults.Each of these was being performed manually through independent test equipment. This kind of test set up may be suited for re-winders and low volume production units. But the medium and high volume production units could not manage with this arrangement, as the rate of testing will not match with the rate of the production. The time taken to complete the test results will be more as compared to the rate of production.
