We offer Allylestrenol that is white to off white crystalline powder with the odour of immediately characteristic used in various pharmaceutical requirements. It is soluble in methanol and chloroform and insoluble in water. It can be obtained in purity with following identification methods: • The absorption maxima in the I.R. spectrum obtained with the dried substance correspond in position and relative intensity to those obtained with the standard, measured concomitantly • From the chromatographical examination it appears that the sample is identical with and at least equal to the standard Some other characteristics of allylestrenol include: • Colour and Clarity: when dissolved 0.4 gms of sample in 10 ml of methanol and the solution is heated to 65 C, the solution is clear, colourless and free from insoluble particles. • Moisture Content By. K. F.: Not more than 1.0 % • Melting Range: 78-81C • Insoluble substances: A 2 % (w/v) solution of the material in dioxane is clear and free from visible impurities • Specific Rotation: calculated with reference to the dry substance • Related Substances by TLC a.- Individual Impurity: Not more than 0.5 % b.- Total Impurities: Not more than 1.0 % • Assay: 97 to 103 %
