Sheathing creates the necessary void in the structure in which the pre-stressing steel (H.T. Strands) is free to move during stressing after the achieve concrete strength. Sheathing is corrugated throughout its length & is manufactured out of C.R.C.A. Strip ranging from 39 mm to 130 mm diameter, strip thickness from 0.24 mm to 0.7 mm and are available in Bright metal/Galvanized/Lead coated as per IRC-18-2000 Specification.

The cable layout activity is taken after completion of alignment of shuttering of girder. The given co-ordinates shall be plotted on bottom & vertical shuttering. In case of vertical ordinates it is preferable to have a copy of modified ordinates according to sheathing diameter. After all ordinates are plotted end lines shall be drawn per cable so that exact path of particular cable profile can be visualized. It should be ensured that while placing of vertical steel, the path of sheathing pipe should not get obstructed. After placing of bottom layer of soft fit and inner layer of web, saddle bars should be installed as per ordinates. Profiling team should proceed with installation of sheathing pipes as per profile already drawn. It should be seen that all the joints of pipes are properly sealed with the help of couplers and PVC tape, it is advisable to avoid joints at vertical & horizontal Curves.
