Usually machines and electrical equipment are fed three-phase supply in the sequence of RYB with phase angle of 120 degrees. Any changes in this angle or phase order can lead to undesired effects such as tripping of ACs, breakdowns of lifts, malfunction of electrical equipment and even permanent damage to the electrical appliances.

To avoid these possibilities Automatic Phase Sequence Changer is installed along with the other electrical installations. The main job of this instrument is to ensure that all 3-phase electrical equipment, irrespective of input phase sequence, is supplied electricity in the correct phase sequence (RYB) without any alteration in the phase angle of 120 degrees.
