These cylinder liners are designed to provide functions including formation of sliding surface where these serving as inner wall of cylinder assist in forming sliding surface for piston rings while retaining lubricant within. Other than this, these also work as heat transfer agents where the combustion heat received through piston and piston rings is transmitted to the coolant. Further, these also provide compression gas sealing where the cylinder liner prevents compressed gas as well as combustion gas from escaping outside.
