In the midst of these magic mountains lies the mystery lake of Roopkund at an altitude of 4780 meters. Here the bones of about 200 persons believed to be about 300 years old can be seen buried in the snow around the lake. It is a fascinating lake and from here we can have close views of Mt. Trisul, Mt. Kamet and Mt. Nanda Devi.

Our trip begins with a drive from Delhi to Rishikesh. From Rishikesh, a town which has become recently famous as the site of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's transcendental meditation centre, we drive on to Gwaldom, where the trek begins. from this point, we will make a circular 14 days trek through the picturesque villages, fields and terraces along the Pindar river.

The first day's trek to deval, a gradual descent through pine trees among cultivated land. Next day is through villages and fields to Lohjung, a meadow at 7,000 feet. On a clear day, there is a magnificent view of Trisul. Trek through the beautiful Villages, meadows,dense forest where with little luck, one might see monkey, apes, bears and various species of deer. The last day of the trek is through majestic cedar and oak forests, with a view through the pine trees of the silver ribbon of the Pindar.
