Other Details

The infill materials for a football field are usually sand and crushed rubber. The rubber granules are available in different colors and qualities. The quality, granular size and granular curve of the rubber have a great effect on the elasticity of the field.

Saltex Oy has four different rubber qualities to OFFER: SBR, TPE-O, TPE-O cylinder and EPDM.

Recycled rubber - currently called SBR

SBR infill is usually produced from a mix of truck and car tires. To improve the appearance and to avoid a "blackening" effect from the rubber of the ball and shoes, a polyurethane (PU) coating in various colors is proposed.

The granule size ranges from 0,5 to 4mm, but in practice the most common range is 0,5 to 2mm. Fines or dust content (particles below 0,5 mm) should be as low as possible - maximum 1%. Abrasion resistance should also be low, mainly to avoid the "blackening" effect described above. A certificate of origin should always be requested (geographical origin of the tires, name and location of the shredding company).

The SBR infill should be free of foreign materials such as iron or fabric from the tires shredding operations.
