Howrah Mills Co. Ltd was established in the year 1890. It is a company with right blend of experience & expertise which became one of the largest manufacturers – exporter of jute products in India. The company has an experience of over 100 years and is among the top 5 jute mills in INDIA.The company has developed a unique range of both traditional and diversified products with a production capacity of over 135 MT per day. Hence it is one of the most prominent companies under Emjay flagship and is setting new landmark industry wide. During the last 3 years there was a steady growth in exports and also countries of operation. Howrah Mills Co. Ltd. has over the years become ‘ The one stop shop for Jute’ and also the only the Jute manufacturing unit in the world to have been awarded with Carbon Credit for its technology of using alternate sources of fuel for the boilers.

It is the only mill to run on 100 % IJIRA Certified Food Grade Batching oil. The company employs more than 5000 workers and its turnover is more than us $ 330 million out of which exports accounts to more than 40% . The company has over the years not only expanded and modernized its existing plant and machinery but has nurtured a team of skilled & dedicated workforce. It has projected a capital investment of 10 million as a part of its expansion plan both in terms of setting new units and up gradation of technology. The company is also setting up a non conventional power plant as per the permission being granted by the Government of West Bengal in the Hooghly district which will help the company in reduction of cost during its regular production. To increase and motivate jute ancillary units, the company has tied up with the Government of West Bengal to develop a JUTE PARK in Coochbihar district which will help in economic freedom and employment generation .
