Bonding Frits are used as a sort of 'glue' to hold together ceramic-based bodies of crucibles, grinding wheels, spark plugs and other items. They can also be used sealing metallic tubes with non-metallic material. The appropriate frit is powdered and mixed with the body to be bonded, then fired to its melting temperature (which must be lower than that of the material being bonded). On cooling, the bonding frit hardens and holds the body together.
