Problem:Metal piston rings in compressors require oil for satisfactory performance. Oil leaking into the system even in small amounts poses not only a contamination problem but may result in plugging of lines and valves leading to system failure. Answer:Piston rings made of low friction PTFE require no lubrication and, therefore, put an end to the problem of oil contamination and line and valve plugging caused by oil leaking into the system. In addition, PTFE piston rings pick up and actually absorb any foreign matter that may work its way into the cylinder head, thereby eliminating scratching and marring of the cylinder wall.
