Talc powder is mostly used in pulverized form. It is valued for its exterme softness, smoothness, high lubticating, hiding power and its ability to absorb oil. It has been also found to be an excellent filler. It can withstand temperatures upto 1300° C. Range 4 microns to 20 microns. Chemically inert to acids and alkalise. Low electrical and thermal conductivity. Talc Application: Paper Industry: Increases the retention of fillers and opacity. Controls pitch globules. Paint Industry: Reinforces the paint films by preventing sagging. Prevents the setting of solids to the bottom of the container. Contributes minium abrasion to the process and applicator. Reduction in the quantity of primary pigment consumed. Plastic Industry: Used as a filler. Improves chemical and heat resistance, impact, strength and dimension stability. Cosmetic Industry: Used in a number of applications including colour make-up, dermopadediatric preparation and talcum powder. Textile Industry: Used both as loading and bleaching material such as cotton sacks, cordage, rope and string. Ceramic Industry: Used in white ware bodies, electrical porcelain, high frequency insulators, tiles and kiln furniture. Rubber Industry: Used as a filler. Provides insulation required in the cable industry. Acts as a dusting and anti blocking agent.
