Our Antique Wall Clocks have been around for a very long time. A wall clock is any clock that has been designed to hang on the wall, and the first wall clocks were made in the late 1700s in England. The first true wall clock was the round-dial clock that came about after the introduction of similar Tavern Clocks that were hung in public houses and Inns in the early 1700s.

The main difference between the later wall and tavern clocks was that later clocks were not as accurate, were much cheaper and were specifically designed for use in the ever increasingly affluent homes throughout England. Today it is hard for us to imagine something as simple as a clock having an impact on social standing, but a clock in the home did just that two hundred years ago.
