TFD's fittings withstand the harshest operating environments, particularly those that promote the rapid onset of red rust. Red rust – the formation of iron oxide – signals oxidation and deterioration of the fitting base metal. This can degrade the fitting and compromise its performance. And although the presence of red rust does not necessitate that a fitting be replaced, it can quickly undermine a customer’s confidence in the integrity of the system or machine it is installed on.
In a recent salt spray test conducted by Miami Valley Materials Testing Center, an accredited independent test center, Parker TFD fittings remained free of red rust after 480 hours exposure. This result significantly exceeds both the current SAE requirement of 72 hours (and proposed new SAE requirement of 96 hours) salt spray with no red rust.A
