These systems help in transforming the voltage from high to low or vice versa. The electric power flows through various substations amid generating plant & consumer and can be changed in voltage throughout various steps. These substations are mainly of two types such as step-up transformer and a step-down transformer. A step-up transformer is used to increase the voltage while decreasing the current and a step-down transformer does the reverse for commercial and domestic distribution.
