GEMITA-GEMCITABINE
Gemita basically belongs to a class of drugs known as pyrimidine analogs. It contains gemcitabine and is mainly used for treatment of pancreas, lung and breast cancer. The medicine functions by stopping the growth and spread of cancer cells through out the body. It is available in 200mg, 1gm or 1.4 gm single dose vial.

Overdose
Symptoms of overdose associated with the medicine may include tingly feeling in the hands or feet, severe skin rash, fever, chills, flu symptoms, or any other signs of infection.
Precautions and Warnings

Doctor’s consultation is required if the patient has undergone radiation surgery or has kidney disease, liver disease, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, anemia and heart disease. Patients are advised not to take measles of flu vaccinations while on a course of this medicine.Not be consumed if the patient is allergic to the medicine or any of its constituentsDoctor consultation required if the patient is pregnant or is breast feeding the child


Interaction with other drugs:

  • vitamins, minerals, herbal products
  • sleeping pills, sedatives, tranquilizers, anti-anxiety drug (diazepam), narcotic pain relievers (codeine), psychiatric medicines (phenothiazines or tricyclics), anti-seizure drugs (carbamazepine), muscle relaxants and drowsiness-causing antihistamines (diphenhydramine)

 

    Side effects of the medicine:
  • Mild nausea and vomiting
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Swelling in hands, ankles, or feet, skin rash, numbness
  • Drowsiness and hair loss
  • Pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding
  • Clay-colored stools and jaundice
  • Chest pain or heavy feeling
